Biography

Hugo Balta is the premier authority on Hispanics/Latinos in media. He is an award-winning, broadcast and digital media news executive directing growth and innovation in several platforms, divisions and businesses in the U.S. and Latin America.

His roles include Senior Producer at MSNBC; Publisher and Executive Producer of CTLatinoNews.com, part of the Latino News Network; President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), second term; Talent Development coach at the NWT Group; Senior Management Consultant, Balta Enterprises, LLC; and President of the Hortencia Zavala Scholarship Corporation (HZS)

As a senior producer at MSNBC, Balta drives the editorial and production vision and execution of news and political live programming. He leads the national board of directors in championing NAHJ’s mission of the fair and accurate treatment of Hispanics/Latinos in newsrooms and news coverage. Balta works with on-air talent improving storytelling techniques, career strategic plan, leadership skills, networking and personal brand.

As a diversity and inclusion specialist, he aligns with company priorities by educating the organization’s leaders on the most effective philosophy and approach in engaging and serving multicultural audiences. In addition, Hugo travels across the country, giving lectures, joining panels and leading training sessions on career management, team building, media, innovation and diversity and inclusion.
