José Manuel Simián is a New York-based bilingual writer, TV host and multicultural content strategist, as well as the deputy digital editor of HOLA! USA. His bilingual writing on politics, media and pop culture has been published by the New York Daily News, Fusion, NPR’s Code Switch, Mediaite, Sports Illustrated Latino, Billboard en Español, Latina, Qué Pasa, Etiqueta Negra, La Tercera and El Mercurio.
Between 2007 and 2016 he hosted and produced Contraportada, a weekly interview segment with Latino artists and intellectuals on 24-hour news cable station NY1 Noticias. He has also been executive editor of Manero, editor of About.com en Español, a guest on NPR and the host of several podcasts. In 2016, he won a MAG award in Chile for the best lifestyle chronicle of the year with “Ho Chi Minh City a dos ruedas.”
Before all of this, José worked as a lawyer and taught Jurisprudence and Law and Literature in Chile.
