Biography

Nicole Acevedo is a staff reporter at NBC News Digital where she reports, writes and produces content for NBC Latino.

From Hurricane Maria’s impact in Puerto Rico and the island’s reconstruction process to politics and the Latin music boom in the U.S., most of Nicole’s reporting focuses on issues affecting Latino communities in the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America.

In the past, Nicole has published stories for MSNBC, Telemundo 47, NPR’s Latino USA, NBCNews.com, among other publications.

Before joining NBC, she was part of the inaugural cohort of students at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism’s first Spanish-language bilingual journalism program. In 2016, she was one of 20 fellows selected to join the Knight Diversity Internship Program at CUNY where she completed an internship with Starfish Media Group, a production and distribution company founded by award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien.

Nicole left San Juan, Puerto Rico nearly seven years ago to attend the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During her time there, she earned a B.A. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
