Biography

Stacy-Marie Ishmael is a 2016-17 JSK Fellow at Stanford University in California. She is researching the challenges posed to newsrooms by the rise of the mobile-only audience.

Before heading West, Ishmael was the Managing Editor for Mobile at BuzzFeed News in New York, where she led the teams that launched the BuzzFeed News App for iOS and Android and the BuzzFeed News daily newsletter.

Prior to joining BuzzFeed, she was the Vice President of Communities at the Financial Times, where she was responsible for growing audience engagement and deepening the FT’s relationship with its global subscribers. Her previous roles at the FT included FT Alphaville New York bureau chief, and co-founder and editor of FT Tilt, an online-only emerging markets news service.
