Biography

Cristina Maldonado is a freelance researcher and producer who teaches research methods in the bilingual Craft classes offered by the Spanish-language Journalism Program.

Previously, she was director of fact checking for the nonprofit news documentary group Retro Report and did work for the Brian Lehrer and Leonard Lopate shows at WNYC.

She has also worked as a researcher for the niche magazine Contribute that covered the philanthropic and non-profit sectors; a stringer for The New York Times metro desk; a researcher for the book Broke U.S.A.; a deadline news writer and producer for NY1’s Spanish sister station NY1 Noticias, and an associate producer for ABC News, Good Morning America.

She holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. in Journalism from Penn State University.
